What is the main hub for the campaign?
Our campaign’s community lives on Discord. It’s where we chat, organize, assign tasks, and welcome new volunteers. While this GitHub repository acts as our public bulletin board, all day-to-day collaboration happens on Discord.
How can I make my first contribution?
The best way to start is to join our Discord Server! Once you’re in, introduce yourself in the #introductions channel, and our community mentors will help you find a task that fits your skills and interests.
Do I need technical skills or special experience to participate?
Not at all. Most of our needs are non-technical. We need help with community organizing, design, policy research, and much more. If you know how to use a chat app like Discord, you have all the technical skills you need to get started.
Will my name or personal information be public?
Your public-facing identity is limited to the username you choose on GitHub and Discord. You are free to use a pseudonym if you prefer privacy. We have a strict policy against sharing any private community member or voter data publicly.
📌 Open Source & The Campaign
What exactly is an “open-source campaign”?
It means we operate with transparency. Our campaign’s official policies, task lists, and plans are stored publicly here on GitHub for anyone to see. This builds trust and allows the community to see exactly what we’re working on.
What’s GitHub and why do you use it?
GitHub is an online platform that we use as our campaign’s public “bulletin board” or filing cabinet. It helps us transparently display our official documents, track tasks (Issues), and formally accept changes (Pull Requests) to our materials. All the active work and discussion happens on Discord.
What are Issues and Pull Requests?
- Issue: A task or to-do item listed on our public GitHub page. Think of it as a card on a “Help Wanted” board. You can find an issue here and then head to Discord to work on it.
- Pull Request (PR): A formal way to submit completed work, like a finished flyer design or a drafted policy document, to be approved and added to our official campaign materials.

What about voter data and privacy?
We take privacy very seriously. No personal voter data (names, addresses, phone numbers) is ever stored or shared on GitHub. This information is handled securely by our core team using internal, protected systems.
How do you handle disagreements or conflicts?
We are committed to respectful, open discussion, which takes place on Discord. If disagreements arise, our Maintainers and Community Mentors help mediate to find common ground, following the conflict resolution process laid out in our Governance Model.
